Distinctive features: Hints of cocoa and citrus zest, with a finish enhanced by leather aromas. The praise this coffee received from customers and restaurant critics who dined at Joe Beef encouraged Fred and Dave to start marketing their blend. In order to do so, they partnered with a true Montreal institution: Café Union. Founded in 1910 and boasting over 100 years of expertise, this master roaster’s reputation is firmly established. In addition, the convenient resealable bag designed in Japan preserves freshness.

Production method: Combining years of expertise with the best technologies on the market, Joe Beef coffee is roasted and packaged in Montreal, in small batches of 60 kg. No more than a week goes by between the moment the beans arrive and the moment the coffee is packaged. It does not spend time in storage. The 5-bean blend is sourced from South America and Indonesia and, for the most part, is purchased directly from growers. This blend of « supremo » quality beans is roasted for 13 minutes (medium dark), resulting in slight bitterness, a nice texture and plenty of body.

Origin: Joe Beef coffees are produced in Montreal.

The artisans behind the product: David McMillan and Fred Morin are long-time friends who, 10 years ago, at a turning point in their careers, decided to do things differently. Having acquired a strong reputation at the Globe restaurant, the two chefs wanted to create a casual space where gourmets would enjoy the best seafood, meats and wines. In short, an unpretentious restaurant that would satisfy the most refined palates.

Uses: Joe Beef coffee generates a lot of crema and is therefore ideal to prepare espressos, cappuccinos, lattes, etc.
