Alfredo sauce

Description

Few people know that the famous Alfredo sauce was born in Rome in 1914 at the restaurant Alfredo alla Scrofa. Created by Alfredo di Lelio, the original recipe—fettuccine tossed with fresh butter and Parmigiano Reggiano—was a model of refined simplicity. After winning over Hollywood stars Douglas Fairbanks and Mary Pickford, the dish gained popularity and crossed the Atlantic, becoming the rich and comforting staple we know in North America today.

Our Favuzzi Alfredo sauce pays tribute to both traditions. Crafted in small batches in the hills of Abruzzo, it is made with carefully selected 100% Italian ingredients: milk, fresh cream, butter, Italian cheeses, including bold, flavorful Pecorino, as well as a hint of garlic and onion for added depth. Creamy, silky, and perfectly balanced, this white sauce brings together Roman heritage and modern indulgence.

Uses

Perfect for coating fettuccine, tagliatelle, or gnocchi, it also pairs beautifully with grilled vegetables or roasted chicken. For an even smoother finish, add ¼ to ½ cup of pasta cooking water to the sauce before mixing. This simple trick helps the sauce cling to the pasta and enhances its velvety texture.
