Two new oils from Planeta

We offer an exclusivity to highly specialized shops: limited quantities of two new single-variety oils from Planeta. While the original Planeta oil is made from a blend of three olive varieties (Biancolilla, Cerasuola and Nocellara), a single-variety oil is, as the name implies, an olive oil made from only one olive variety.

Furthermore, just like the Teanum oil we import from Puglia, these two new oils from Planeta are made from pitted olives, resulting in a slightly higher polyphenol (antioxidant) content was well as lower acidity and peroxide levels.

Nocellara

Biancolilla

The Biancolilla stands out with delicate aromatic notes of hazelnut and fresh herbs, as well as a hint of lime, dried tomato and bergamot. It is the lightest and most delicate oil from Planeta, while still retaining a typically Sicilian character.

As for the Nocellara, it features thyme and green apple aromas with hints of carob (spice), almond and white pepper. It also has a noticeable resin aroma and a more intense taste than the Biancolilla.

Did you know that in 2013, Italian oils held 70% of the olive oil market shares in Canada? This trend has been growing rapidly since 2009. Sources: Unaprol and ICE.
