Ingredients

Serves 8

  • 2 kg (4 lb) pork shoulder with bone, fat removed
  • 2 sliced onions
  • 500 ml (2 cups) Joe Beef BBQ steak sauce
  • 60 ml (4 tablespoons) Joe Beef smoked apple mustard
  • 2 Cortland apples, peeled and cut into dice
  • Salt and pepper

  • Lettuce
  • Coleslaw
  • Cheese
  • Brooklyn Brine pickles

Preparation

  1. In a slow cooker, combine onions, joe beef bbq steak sauce, joe beef smoked apple mustard and apple dice.
  2. Season the pork shoulder with salt and pepper and add to the slow cooker with other ingredients.
  3. Mix well to coat all ingredients with sauce and simmer on low for 8 hours.
  4. Remove meat from slow cooker and shred with a fork. Larger apple pieces can also be crushed into the sauce to give a smoother consistency.
  5. Put pulled pork back into the sauce and mix well so meat absorbs the juices.
  6. Serve in round buns and add a garnish to taste. The coleslaw can be served as a side dish or as a garnish.
