Smoked Herring Avocado Toast

Ingredients

  • 2 pieces of artisanal bread
  • 1 avocado
  • 1 tin of Mary Manette’s wild Nova Scotia herring, drained
  • Pickled red onion
  • Balsamic reduction or squeeze of fresh lemon

Preparation

  1. Toast bread as desired, lightly spread with butter and top with slices of avocado.
  2. Top with Mary Manette’s wild Nova Scotia herring and a few slices of pickled red onions.
  3. Drizzle with a bit of balsamic reduction for a note of sweetness or a squeeze of fresh lemon for an extra zing.


Optional: if you’re looking to add a bit of a kick, add a few red pepper chili flakes (we highly recommend!)
