Marqués de Valdueza at 2020 NYIOOC

Since 1624, the Álvarez de Toledo family has been producing olive oil on their Perales de Valdueza estate in Extremadura, Spain. In 2002, their finishing oil was packaged under the MARQUÉS DE VALDUEZA label and in 2006, the slightly later-picked MERULA olive oil was released.

Both of these oils received gold awards at the New York International Olive Oil Competition (NYIOOC) this year. This recognition is a tribute to centuries of dedication to excellence by the Álvarez de Toledo family and the generations of hardworking professionals that contribute to the production of all of the fine products that are grown and packaged on the family’s estates.

The quality of these two oils is the result of several years of intense investment at Perales de Valdueza. The Álvarez de Toledo family has embarked on a centuries-old effort to bring the best that the Extremeñan countryside has to offer and the two gold awards from NYIOOC demonstrate that they are moving in the right direction.

Cool, undamaged fruit reaches the mill from orchards planted, cultivated, and harvested by traditional dictates that respect the fauna that shares the estate property with the marquis’ family. The harmony and balance between man and nature at Perales de Valdueza is reflected by the same harmony and balance found in the extra virgin olive oils produced there.

Whether it is the olive oil, honeys, or the superlative red wine vinegar produced on the estate, the finest chefs around the world have found that these products add an unparalleled elegance to every plate. The Marquis is proud to make these same products available to the home chef, too, and help bring the quality and distinction of Marqués de Valdueza to everyone’s kitchen.
